Awesome Book: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
An important part of the holiday process: Devouring delectable books.
Have you read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time? You need to read this book. I read this fabulous skip-and-jump of a novel long before I was freakishly into dogs. It's not really about dogs anyway. The dog in the title is dead when the book starts and this is NOT A SPOILER because, again, it is clear the dog is dead IN THE FIRST LINE OF THE BOOK.
Don't freak out at me.
I started reading it for the second time on Friday and I was finished by Monday. At the risk of sounding like a tremendous underachiever, it is a very nice sense of accomplishment to quickly finish off a book you just love. You're sad it's over, but you have this kind of Ta-da!!! feeling too.
It's nice.
Read it. Lemme know what you think.
If you liked this post and you would like to share it, that would be super! Thank you so much!

I need to go and read that!
ReplyDeleteHave you read 'The Art of Driving in the Rain'? It's from a dog's point of view.
@spokeit- I haven't, thanks for the suggestion!
ReplyDeleteI have added it to my list at the library :)
ReplyDeleteI have actually had that book on my shelf for a really long time but haven't gotten around to picking it up. Will definitely have to tackle it soon!
ReplyDeleteI read TCIOTDITN a couple years ago and LURRRVED it. So well-written and thought-provoking but yet an entertaining, quick read. LOL at your "spoiler." As for "The Art of Driving in the Rain," I *did* sort of get a spoiler on that one (thanks a ton, Bark magazine), but still want to read it.
ReplyDelete@Katherine- I had to google "TCIOTDITN" to get what it stood for (just in case for anybody else: it stands for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time"!). I was thinking, who in the hell would name their book TCIOTDITN? Did they fall asleep on the keyboard and ended up being too lazy to update the title? How do they expect people to remember it? How would I ask for it at the book store: "Hi. Do you have "Tasi-oh-tea-ditin"? Wow. Maybe I shouldn't admit that :)
ReplyDeleteI read both. TCIOTDITN taught me much about autism and had interesting twists. Picked up a copy at a thrift store and thought it would have been more about DOGS, but was still not disappointed in the book. Glad I read it.
ReplyDeleteTHE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN was GREAT! Got that book from local library and read it cover to cover in no time. CRIED AND SMILED AND CRIED AND SMILED. I judge a book by how the writing affected me emotionally--Driving in the Rain did just that. BTW, I am not a fan of car racing in any form and the book does deal with automobile racing.
Shauna - Bwaa haa! I'm glad you Googled it before you embarrassed yourself at the library. :D I'm actually laughing that it showed up on Google - I was just sort of abbreviating it for kicks. :D
